Dr. Zach Jonasson is a General Partner at Seaflower Ventures, where he focuses on originating investments in life science companies and on providing operation support to the existing portfolio. Zach joined Seaflower in 2002 and later became a Kauffman Fellow with the firm. He has led Seaflower's investments in MetaWorks (Acquired) and Serenex (Acquired) and was a board observer at eMed Technologies (Acquired). Zach currently represents Seaflower as a director on the boards of Valeritas and BioValve. Previously, he worked with several start-ups, including Unison and Caner Advisors, and was a consultant at Risk Capital Management Partners, where he worked on technical and product development for several technology companies. Earlier in his career, Zach held a Research Associateship at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, where he conducted macroeconomic research.
Dr. Jonasson completed his Ph.D. in Neuroscience in the Cognition, Brain and Behavior program at Harvard University under Mark Moss. As a Sackler Scholar, he was awarded several research grants, led a research collaboration and authored several scientific articles. In addition to his doctoral studies, Zach co-taught Market Research at Harvard Business School (HBS) and co-authored two studies of applied real options and risk analysis with Professor David Shimko. Zach also holds an A.M. in Statistics from Harvard University and a B.S. from the SFS Honors Program at Georgetown University, where he was a Rhodes Scholarship Finalist.
